RE: Need help ASAP tow rating

" According to GMC's website an '08 2500 4wd D/A ext. cab short bed has a max payload of 3,360."
Don't I wish. Closer to 2300 lbs.
27ft fiver pin weight 1600 lbs.
Hitch 150 lbs.
Auxilary 50gal fuel tank 400 lbs.
Opt. generator in fifth 200 lbs.
I'm already over payload with no wife, dogs, and all the
other stuff that goes with it.
One nice truck though.
Get the dually.

RE: Roof sheathing under membrane

I can't believe that people think that c@@@ like this is "normal", especially an rv tech.
I rather like my "abnormal" 10 year old roof that does not look like this.

RE: Slider hitch needed for shortbed?

I have had mine for 6 years and have never needed it. Would not buy one again. There is some inherent "slop" in the hitch that causes some banging and clanging at times.
However, that being said, I will buy a Sidewinder for the next one.
More expensive than the sliding hitch but then again if you have the slider, you will probably not use it when you do need it.
I was leery of these(Sidewinder) when they first came out, but have yet to read a post where one has caused problems. If anyone has any first hand experience with the Sidewinder, I would love to hear from you. Not trying to steal the thread but also hope it helps the OP.

RE: WW Roof Leak

I had a Trail Lite that the insurance company totaled out after 3 years due to water damage. You may want to check your policy and see if there is any coverage before you start tearing it apart.
Got nothing to lose.

RE: One MORE reason I hate my DTV

What I will suggest probably won't help but at least a thought:
"light dusting of snow had already STOPPED falling and THIS time it didn't come back on"
Had something similar except in summer. Lost reception during the rain storm and even after the rain and the sun shining. Turns out the water on a limb was just enough to weigh it down and block the signal.
Have hardly ever lost the signal since.
I would try borrowing a portable single lnb and start trouble shooting from there.
DTV is sometimes a PITA but what a wonderful HD picture!
And cable here is still in the Stone age.
Hope you find it.

RE: cd drive cant read

Bring up media player, go to that drive and see if it works.
If not go to control panel, device manager and see if it is listed in devices. If listed remove and restart computer, it will reinstall and then try playing it again.
It is possible that it is not being seen by bios(this happens, believe me). If you don't know how to check this, PM me.

RE: Having trouble with Dealer negotiations

I paid $37000 for a $49000 truck. This was in September and was the only truck with the color I wanted that was within 500 miles.
This was the going rate from all dealers at that time. I thought the prices would be lower in a couple of months but the selection would be thinner.
It took a 10 minute call to the dealer to get this deal.
Last year I was expecting to pay 42-45K for this truck.
Four dealers with the same price? Sounds like you found what the "going rate" is for the truck.
A year ago you if you had paid this price for the truck, you would have thought you had the deal of a lifetime on this truck.
Do what you will, but I am a HAPPY CAMPER!!

Are you sure you have opened the slide valve on the black tank? The handle may actually be broken. I see no way you can run a hose or anything into the black tank without getting wet if it is full to the toilet top. You must be running whatever into the grey water tank that is probably empty anyway and not connected to the toilet.

RE: New 5th wheel

I just bought a new Dmax with a
9200GVWR- 2300 payload = 6900# truck.
Your numbers for 1500 truck
9100GVWR- 1800 payload = 7300# truck.
Somebody's numbers seem wrong somewheres.
There are fifth wheel you can pull, just not this one.

RE: Anybody ever come across defective eternabond tape?

Still on the pool liner and holding.
Used it to patch my waterbed on Thanksgiving day. Dog toenail.
My RV roof lost a lot of its "white".
Felt real chalky. I could see where the eternabond could lift in
spots due to this chalking.

One giant step..

I need someway to get into the bed of my truck.
Debo step looks promising.
BedStep looks like you have to step over tailgate cable.
Anyone here with a favorite way?

I'm going with an Arctic Fox, but the price you mention seems low.
You can email Northwood for MSRP and figure from there.
